Swimming Pools

Built as part of the garden, not dropped beside it.

A pool is the most demanding thing you can put into a garden — it needs ground that behaves, levels that work and drainage thought about early. We design and build pools as one element of a complete outdoor environment across Essex, Hertfordshire and North London.

Most pool problems begin below the ground.

Water, levels and drainage are unforgiving. A pool that sits badly in its site — waterlogged around the edges, held up by retaining work that was never designed for the load, or surrounded by paving that has begun to move — is almost always a groundworks problem rather than a pool one.

Because excavation, drainage, retaining and structures are a core part of what we do, the ground a pool sits in is prepared and engineered by the same team that lays the terrace around it and builds the planting and screening that makes the space feel private.

Where we work.

We take on pool and outdoor-living projects across Essex, Hertfordshire and London — from Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, out to the Essex parishes around Epping Forest, and into north and east London.

Recent work across the same area includes a pool and pool house at Dane O’Coys in Bishop’s Stortford, a full pool installation and landscaping in Loughton, a garden transformation and garden room at The Forebury in Sawbridgeworth, and a garden room, adventure playground and driveway in South Woodford.

The spaces around a pool matter as much as the water: terraces for sitting and dining, covered areas for shelter, and a pool house or changing room so the building works through a whole day. Those are covered under Garden Buildings & Outdoor Living, and the wider approach to a pool under Swimming Pools.

Pool and outdoor-living projects can be seen on the Projects page. For the structural side — excavation, drainage, retaining and foundations — see Groundworks, Drainage & Structures.
